How affiliate links work

How this affects what we write
Our recommendations are based on our own experience, on hands-on use of the gear where possible, on the specifications of each product, and on feedback from other athletes.
We commit to the following:

- We say when we have not personally tested a product, and explain what our assessment is based on instead.
- Commission rates do not decide our rankings. Where a cheaper option is the better choice, we say so.
- We point out drawbacks, not just strengths.
- Where a product is not worth buying, we say that too.
If we ever receive a product free of charge, or are paid to publish something, that will be stated clearly at the top of the page concerned.
